The Seattle Times Editorial Board
“For District 4, The Times recommends longtime immigrant rights advocate Jorge Barón. … The challenges require bold, creative leadership from the Metropolitan King County Council. Barón has the experience, skills and passion needed to help craft policy for county government. … Recognizing that about 25% of King County residents are born outside of the U.S., Barón understands the need to center equity in his decision-making, and acknowledges the effect systemic racism has on individuals.”
The Stranger’s Editorial Board
“Ultimately, Jorge Barón’s nearly two decades of battle on behalf of immigrants, who compose nearly one quarter of King County’s population, stood out above his competition. … he isn’t just a paper-pusher or a well-connected lobbyist. When Trump initially imposed the Muslim ban, Barón literally ran through SeaTac to stop a plane from leaving with two people who Customs and Border Patrol attempted to deport back to Yemen and Sudan in violation of an incoming court order. That’s the kind of hustle we expect him to bring to this role.”
The Urbanist
“When looking at the transportation crisis facing Sound Transit and King County and how to address it, he sees an approach that doesn’t end at bringing it up to the standards of frequency, reliability, and safety that we expect. He sees the need for more progressive funding mechanisms to fund those transit upgrades. Barón will be a bold visionary and a critical implementer of an Urbanist vision. Vote Barón.”
Progressive Voters Guide
“Barón is a great choice if you are looking for an experienced nonprofit leader who will bring new perspectives to the King County Council with a record of coalition building and effective advocacy.”

When Customs and Border Protection was harassing and detaining Iranian Americans at the Canadian border, it was Jorge who personally went there to advocate for their rights. When there was a suspected ICE raid in Ballard, he was there, standing up for the rights of those affected. His hands-on approach and unwavering commitment to justice are just a few of the reasons why I believe Jorge would make an excellent member of the King County Council
